EMAA III Cancelled

Hello EMAA,

Once again I regret to inform you that our third show, EMAA III, at Shiawassee County Fairgrounds on July 17th-19th has been cancelled due to the restrictions in place from the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision was not ours to make but instead, Shiawassee County Fairgrounds Management called on May 20 to inform us that the Fairgrounds is completely closed until September 1, 2020; EMAA’s deposit has been carried over until 2021.

I am devastated to share this news with you. “The show must go on” is in our DNA, but we have no control over the ramifications from this pandemic and the orders from the Michigan Governor.

EMAA II, at the MSU Pavilion, is still on our radar however Executive Order 2020-100 from May 22 is enforcing stay-at-home, continued closures, and limited gatherings until June 12; EMAA II is scheduled for June 26. I anticipate that MSU Management will not make any decisions on contracted events, such as our show, until Governor Whitmer’s next announcement however a review of the MI Safe Start Plan would increase gatherings from 10 to 50 people so a gathering of 300 people seems unlikely. If MSU does open, they will have safety measures in place that we will have to adhere to; we are all just waiting.

This is a very uncertain time with rapidly changing developments. At this time we will be following the events as they continue to unfold. Please note that regulations and directives change daily and there is no way of telling at this time what will be coming in the following weeks and months. We will take it one day at a time and keep you updated as things become more certain.

We thank you for your understanding and patience during this difficult time. Please follow us on Facebook along with the EMAA website, and watch for our email blasts for the latest updates. We encourage you to share your videos and photos of your Arabian/Half Arabian horses with us on our Facebook page.

On behalf of myself and the entire EMAA board, please stay safe,

Danielle Hawes, President
