President's Letter
Dear Members,
I hope everyone is enjoying the weather rollercoaster we have been on the last few weeks.
I know the mud is starting to dry up and the ponies are starting to shed out around here. Your board of directors has been hard at work this winter with some exciting new stuff for 2025. We will have some new classes to offer this year, ranch riding, novice showmanship, jackpot English western and saddleseat pleasure.
I hope many of you take advantage of the new yearly camping reservations, we hope this will help streamline your show experience. We encourage you to check out the web page and Facebook page for judge and show updates. As the show season creeps closer we are always looking for more show help if you or anyone you know is interested please feel free to contact Rebecca or anyone on the board. As always we look forward to catching up with our horse show friends at the first show but we also encourage you to attend the spring meeting at MSU in the classrooms on April 19th At 2:00 pm. So until then, I hope everyone has a great spring and can't wait to see you in a few weeks.
Tyler Smith, EMAA President

What's New with Camping Reservations?
Starting for the show season of 2025, the cost of camping will no longer be a nightly fee, but a set fee for the weekend. This is very similar to many other shows in Michigan and allows Campers to stay Thursday after 2pm-Sunday with no concerns of when to plug in. The new camping fee will be $100 per weekend.
We are NOW offering Full Year Prepaid Reserved Camping Sites!
Reserve your camping spot for ALL four shows up to a MONTH before the first show, May 16th-18th! Reservations will close April 20th. This can be reserved and paid for via Card, PayPal, Check or Cash. Sites will not be reserved without payment. The cost will be $400 for the year and covers camping from Thursday-Sunday for all four shows. Service fees applied to Cards and Paypal.
Why reserve early?
Save Money at the Shows: Prepaying for your full year camping lowers costs at each show!
Guaranteed Spot: Your site is secured for ALL four shows – no need to worry about availability and you will be notified of your spots before the first show.
Peace of Mind: Get your camping needs sorted in advance, and focus on making the most of your classes and time at the show!
Secure your site now and enjoy the convenience of knowing exactly where you'll be for the entire year. Let's make 2025 a year to remember!

From the Dressage Ring
It won’t be long before our first show and looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
We have a couple of familiar faces returning to judge for us this year in addition to a couple of new ones to welcome. More to come on the website homepage to announce our judges for 2025.
In reviewing trends and anticipating exhibitor participation, we have gone back to 1 judge for the weekend instead of splitting Friday’s schedule into 2 judges. With that, the schedule will be changing just slightly. We will start Sport Horse in Hand at 2pm, open showing to the judge, until 4:30. Ride times will be from 4:45-6:45, followed by our 3 rail classes from 7:00-8:00.
Also, sign up for Dressage High Score at each show. We will award the highest score at each level for each show, so don’t forget to enter to be eligible!
We will be using Signup Genius again for signing up for ride times. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions. In the meantime, please be sure to review the Rules/Regs for our dressage classes.
Don’t forget to invite your Open Breed friends to join us for the fun filled weekend with EMAA!

The Voice of EMAA Nominees for the 2024 Show Season
The Voice of EMAA: Kevin Tersigni Memorial Award
This prestigious award honors the memory of Kevin Tersigni, whose spirit and dedication left a huge impact on EMAA's community.
This award is more than just recognition; it’s an award that honors a rider's sportsmanship and perseverance, either nominated or board-appointed over the season. True sportsmanship is considered by the won for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors. It is never a single act or deed, but rather an attitude of teamwork, selfless contribution, and support of others.
This award is more than just recognition; it’s a celebration of the individuals who inspired us, uplifted our spirits, and created an environment where everyone can thrive. Whether it’s a mentor who provided guidance, a friend or board member who cheered you on during challenging times, or a member whose infectious laughter brightened even on the hottest show days. We want to hear about the contributions that made your season special.
For the 2024 Show Season, Cally Cunningham was awarded the honor to receive the The Voice of EMAA: Kevin Tersigni Memorial Award.
Our other nominees were:
Larissa Lincoln
Rachel Weier

We want to give a HUGE "Thank You" to Phil of Phil VarnHagen Photography!!
Phil has graciously sponsored EMAA this year by donating the following gifts to our Exhibitors!
The Supreme Grand and Reserve overall winners at the Year-End Awards Banquet would receive an 8x10 framed photo that is taken by Phil VarnHagen Photography at one of the 4 shows that we host. The Supreme Grand Champion will also receive a complimentary Mini-Shoot with Phil at a scheduled time with him, that must be redeemed within the next four shows following the Banquet.
Phil will sponsor every class at the show by offering each winning rider a Free Digital Image. Phil will receive a copy of the class placings so he can track who the winners were, with the help of the Show Office. Those who win a class are responsible for contacting Phil to arrange how they will receive their free digital image.
Exhibitors that are awarded with the Overall High-Point at the Year-End Awards Banquet will receive a complimentary Mini-Shoot with Phil at a scheduled time with him, that must be redeemed within the next four shows following the Banquet.
Please Thank Phil for all of his generosity and time that he gives to all of us EMAA Members!
From Horses Haven...
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, retrain and re-home at risk equines. Our goal is to find every horse in our care a forever home through adoption. This is accomplished through medical rehabilitation and training.
Your generous donation from the EMAA members collected at the banquet is so greatly appreciated and will help offset costs to support caring for these special animals.
Please visit our website for more information and upcoming fundraising and volunteer opportunities at horseshaven.org.
Again, thank you for donating to make a difference!
